The Trainquil Effects Method
Trainquil Effects's method applies Cooperative Care and Positive Reinforcement to every grooming session to help your dog learn to be calm, comfortable and cooperative and have a safe and pleasant experience with the grooming process for life. We are Master Groomer Behavior Specialists and follow L.I.M.A. and The Humane Hierarchy. We are well versed in Classical and Operant Conditioning. We take a history, do a Functional Behavior Assessment, and make a Behavior Modification Plan to suit the needs of the individual dog and the owner and educate owners about their pet's needs. We are groomers who understand the difficulty levels involved with grooming and are prepared to help dogs stay below their emotional threshold in that challenging setting. We are involved in the community and collaborate with owners, fellow groomers, trainers, behavior consultants, veterinarians, and other dog pros to help dogs with cooperative care.
Trainquil Effects is a house-call service providing care in the comfort of your home. With our Cooperative Care approach in mind we do not rush dogs through services. With more severe behavior cases multiple shorter sessions may be needed until your pet is prepared to handle more. Most dogs receiving wellness baths & wellness baths with haircuts are able to be safely and comfortably finished in one appointment, which typically takes about 1.5 hours for a small dog and 2 hours for a medium/large dog. Our maintenance and nail trim package appointments typically take 30-45 minutes per dog. New customers, please allow 15-20 minutes for an initial meet and treat when we arrive. Additional factors include how long since they've last been groomed, behavior, how thick/thin the coat is, coat type, and more. Please keep in mind, we are working with dogs who can be unpredictable, have different personalities, and all like different things. To avoid an unsafe and potentially fear inducing situation for your dog, we will not rush through our services and you may not receive a perfect haircut until your dog is better prepared.
We love dogs and make sure to take extra time to build a relationship with every dog that we see, teaching them that the grooming process doesn't have to make them fearful, anxious, or stressed and that they can come to trust in a predictable routine with us in that they wont be pushed past what they are telling us they can handle. Our goal is for your dog to be happy to see us and feel great during and after their appointment. We want dogs to be able to relax and have a stress-free encounter. We like to give dogs breaks, make them feel safe and comfortable,
and allow for the time needed to make that happen.
